How to Reuse Pages from Your Previous Yearbook?
Table of Contents
Reusing layouts from a previous yearbook project is a great way to save significant time when designing your new book. You can import individual pages or clone the entire project.
Accessing Previous Pages
- Open Layouts: Click on Layouts from the menu on the left side of the designer.
- Select My Templates: Click the My Templates button. A dropdown menu will appear.
-
Choose Book & Pages:
- Select the previous book you want to pull pages from.
- Click on the Pages dropdown menu to view all the layouts in that book.
Option A: Cloning the Entire Book
You can clone the entire previous project (all pages and settings) into your current book.
- Click on the blue Clone this Book button above the list of pages.
- Start Clone: Click the button. A pop-up will ask if you wish to install the book with or without all the photos currently in it. Read and follow the next steps to complete the cloning process.
⚠️ Recommendation: If you have already started designing elements in your current book (like the cover or theme pages), it is usually not recommended to clone the previous book. Instead, use Option B to insert individual pages.
Option B: Inserting Individual Pages
This is the preferred method for reusing a few specific layouts.
- Select Page: Scroll down the list to see your selected book's pages, then choose the one you want.
- Insert Page: A small photo icon of the selected page will attach to your mouse pointer.
- Place Layout: Click on the page in your current book where you wish to insert the layout.
- Choose Action: You will be prompted to choose whether to Replace whatever contents are currently on that page or place the new layout on top of the existing contents.
Converting a Page into a Reusable Template
If the page you inserted contains old photos, you should convert those photos into empty photo boxes so you can use the layout repeatedly as a clean template.
- Set Background (if needed): If the page has a background image, select it, right-click, and choose Add to Background to ensure it stays in place.
- Activate Multi-Select: Hit Right click on the page and select the Multi Select tool.
- Select Old Photos: Point your mouse cursor at the top-left corner of the page (in between the black and purple lines), then drag down to the bottom-right corner, ensuring all old photos are selected.
- Clear Contents: Click the Clear button from the Quick Menu as shown above. This will remove the old photos, leaving behind empty drop photo boxes in the exact same layout.
-
Save as Template: To make this layout reusable:
- Save the page first.
- Click the dropdown arrow next to the Save button and select Save as a Template.
- Find Your New Template: You can now access this layout for any other page by navigating to: Layouts >> My Templates >> "Your Current Book" >> Templates.

That's it! By reusing your previous layouts, you've saved countless hours on design work. Now you can dedicate that extra time to finding the perfect photos and crafting memorable content for this year's book. Happy designing!
