What Happens If I Delete People Data?
Table of Contents
Deleting People Data is a permanent action, and it affects how portraits and information flow into your yearbook. Here’s what you need to know before removing anything.
🗑️ What Exactly Gets Deleted?
When you delete People Data, you are removing:
The index information (names, grades, teachers, etc.)
The photo associations linked to that data
Any imported lists tied to People Pages
This means the system no longer recognizes who belongs in which section or which photo belongs to which student.
🧾 What Does NOT Get Deleted?
The photo files themselves (JPG/PNG) remain in your Images library.
Your page designs, backgrounds, shapes, and text stay in place.
Other yearbook content is unaffected.
📌 Impact on Your Yearbook Pages
If People Data is deleted:
Flowed portraits will be removed from People Pages.
Names and labels attached to portraits will disappear.
You will need to re-upload and re-flow the data if you want those pages populated again.
Think of it like pulling the engine out of the car, the car stays, but it can’t run.
❗ Is It Reversible?
No. Once deleted, People Data cannot be restored unless:
✅ You re-upload the index file
✅ You re-match or re-flow the portraits
If you don’t have the original data file, you’ll need to recreate it manually.
✅ When Should You Delete People Data?
Only when:
You uploaded the wrong class, grade, or index.
The data is outdated and you’re replacing it entirely.
You’re starting over with a clean roster.
✅ Best Practice Tip
Before deleting anything, download or save a copy of your original index file. It can save you from starting over.
