Video on how to place photos uploading into the designer:

You can insert an image onto your yearbook page in a variety of ways, such as using our CLICK-TO-CLICK feature, or using your photos as a background!  This article will also explain how to refresh your photo categories, upload photos from the EDOnline designer, insert a drop photo box as a placeholder, and how to filter your images.

How to Insert Individual Images

From the left toolbar, under the section called Insert Items, click on the Photo button.

Insert Items Photos

Click Select Category to view the uploaded images.

Select a category

Select an image that you would like to use by simply clicking on the photo. (Photos will be highlighted in green once selected.)

Click anywhere on the page you wish to insert the photo. The photo will generate onto the page based on the file size of the photo. (Note: If you have drop photo boxes on your page, you can drop the photo into it by selecting the photo and then clicking inside the drop photo box.)

Each time you select a photo, an Insert Ready popup will appear at the top right corner of your screen until the photo is placed or un-selected.

Select a category to view the uploaded images. Select an image that you would like to use as a background by simply clicking on the photo. (Photos will highlight in green once selected.)

Click the green Set Background button from the left toolbar above your photo selection, then choose Left Page, Right Page, or both pages to apply the image to your background layer.

*Please note: If you choose an image with a low DPI, your background might print out blurry. To check the DPI of the image, click here (publish the preflight page first) to learn about our pre-flight warnings and low-resolution images.

Uploading Images While in the Page Designer

Insert Items Photos

Uploading photos from within the page designer is very simple. When you are on a page, from the left toolbar, under the section called Insert Items, click on the Photo button.

Select the blue button at the top of this menu that says Upload Photos.

Select a category. (Note: You can create a new photo category if needed.)

Select Category

Browse for your files by clicking the Browse button and select your images, or simply drag the images into the Upload Photos box. Photos will automatically begin to upload.

It is important to keep track of the photos that you have already placed on your pages so that you don’t use the same photo on more than one page.  In our photo menu, if you have used a photo in your yearbook, it will have a blue banner on the bottom edge of an image preview that reads “Used on page #”.

Insert a photo that has not yet been used in the book. After you Save your page, click on the  Refresh button in the Insert Photo Menu, and the image will be labeled Used on page #.

How to Insert Drop Photo Boxes

This is helpful if you would like to design a page but do not have the photo content for the page yet. From the left toolbar, under the section called Insert Items, click on the Photo button. From here, select the button Blank Photos.

You can then choose a drop photo box shape, and either click Insert Photo Box, or click on the page you want to insert the photo box.  There are lots of different shapes to choose from!

Filtering Your Photos

You can search through your photos in the designer using our filtering system.

Filtering

File/Person: Search for a photo by the file name. If you click the drop-down arrow next to File, you can search by a person’s name. (Note: People names are generated by an uploaded student index. If you have not uploaded an index, then you will not be able to search by name.)

Tag: Search by the tagged students in your yearbook.

Select Apply Filter to filter out your photo results, and Clear Filters to go back to the default filters.

Hide Used Photos: Select this status to hide photos that are already used in your book.
